July 11, 2019: Town Board meeting

Regular meeting of the Tow of Hadley Town Board held Thursday July 11th at 4 Stony Creek Road, Hadley NY at 7PM

 

Members present: Supervisor, Arthur Wright Councilwoman, Colleen DeMarsh,

Councilman, Charles Ovitt, Carl Lawrence, James Brewster

Also present: Highway Superintendent, Andrew Gilbert

and Pauline G. Smead, Town Clerk

Attorney Raeann Johnson: Absent

 

RESOLUTION # 53 was made by a motion from Carl Lawrence seconded by Charles Ovitt

          BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Hadley Town Board have audited all pre-paid vouchers and all were approved. All Ayes.

RESOLUTION # 54 was made by a motion from Charles Ovitt seconded by Carl Lawrence.

          BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Hadley have audited all vouchers and all have been approved for payment. All Ayes

PUBLIC COMMENTS ADDRESSED TO THE TOWN BOARD AT THIS TIME

 

Mr. Roger Allen spoke to the Town Board about possibly using the Senior Center to do cooking for resale. The Supervisor explained to him that it cannot be done due to equipment belonging to Office of the Aging.

 

Mrs. Laurie Beach also spoke to the town Board about Traffic on Stewart Bridge Road pertaining to tubing down the river. She provided a petition signed by the majority of her neighbors. After a long discussion a sign will be erected for the matter and a new speed sign also.

 

Highway Superintendent’s report was verbal. Mr. Gilbert informed the Town Board that Hiram Hollow was reopened and the cost is now $92 .00 per ton which prior to the fire it was $ $67.00. The Town will stay with Waste Management.

 

He also informed the Town Board that the grass is being cut and the paving will take place on or around July 23rd.

 

TOWN BOARD’S FOLDERS: Supervisor’s monthly report, Building Inspector’s monthly report, June 13th  Town Board minutes, Highway Fuel report for June’s and Senior’s report.

 

Supervisor Wright’s report was verbal.

Supervisor Wright asked Mr. Gilbert to order one load of chips for the Playground.

Supervisor Wright explained to the Town Board that the Assessor’s term was ending on September 30th as this was the date of Mr. Madison’s term was ending.

 

RESOLUTION # 55 was made by a motion from Charles Ovitt seconded by Carl Lawrence.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Hadley Town Board hereby appoints Assessor John Bonanno for another term. All Ayes.

 

Also he had spoken to Mr. Kent McKernon about the Town Hall driveway and he is charging .50 per foot and he already did the work at the Senior Center and will also do the Town Hall.

 

Supervisor Wright informed the Town Board that the Saratoga County Fair is taking place on the 23rd of July.

 

Supervisor Wright had a meeting with MJ Engineering on Thursday morning and asked about the 1st reimbursement the Town was to be paid back and due to a mix-up in numbers the payment will be made to the Town of Hadley immediately. The Supervisor advised them that no payment would be made from the Town of Hadley until the reimbursement is received. Also the Town’s culvert is beyond their right of way and they have to purchase the property before the new culvert can be installed.

 

Supervisor Wright also stated that a meeting will be held with the employees for the Medical Insurance. A date will be set as soon as he finds out from the Highway Superintendent which day is best for everyone.

 

Supervisor Wright also stated that the flagpole was down from the Park. After discussing this matter it needs to be welded and Supervisor Wright will contact Mike Waite to do the job.

A flagpole will also be ordered for the Cemetery and the flags on the Bridge which needs to be replaced will be replaced. It was also discussed that branches need to be cut so the flags don’t get ruined.

Motion was made by James Brewster seconded by Charles Ovitt to adjourn this meeting at 7:30PM. All Ayes.
